• Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish has revealed they talked about asking Justin Timberlake to portray the music legend in 'Rocketman' before Taron Egerton landed the role.

    Justin Timberlake was eyed to play Sir Elton John in 'Rocketman'. Before Taron Egerton landed the role as the 'I'm Still Standing' hitmaker in the blockbuster biopic, Justin Timberlake was a serious candidate. Sir Elton revealed they thought of Timberlake after he impressed producers when he portrayed Elton in his 2001 music video for 'This Train Don't Stop There Anymore'. However Elton’s husband David Furnish said they never approached Timberlake as they “weren’t ever at a stage where it was the right time”. Saying that Timberlake looked perfect for the roll in a fake nose, and did some “really interesting acting”during the video. Elton, previously spoke of how he was very "moved" by Taron's portrayal of him and admitted he was so "blown away".Adding that when seeing his story told on the big screen he couldn't help but shed a few tears.Saying that he knew Taron could sing as soon as he met him and felt there could definitely be something special there. Looking back on it he admits he’s very proud of the movie, his life and especially Taron for his outstanding performance.
